The following chart outlines traditional Chinese medicine based acupuncture and acupressure points along the Small intestine meridian.

 

SI1 point, Shao ze (Lesser Marsh)

Location: On the ulnar side of the distal phalanx of the little finger, .1 cun (finger cun) distance from the corner of the nail.

Health Issues Supported: Headache, eye screen, pain and swelling of the throat, shortage of breast milk, heat disease.

Acupuncture and Acupressure Impacts: Resuscitates, promotes lactation, opens orifices, clears Heat.

SI2 point, Qian gu (Front Valley)

Location: When a loose fist is made, the point is on the ulnar aspect of the hand, distal to the 5th metacarpophalangeal joint, at the end of the transverse crease of the metacarpophalangeal joint, at the junction of the red and white skin.

Health Issues Supported: Headache, numbness of the fingers, pain and swelling of the throat, heat disease.

Acupuncture and Acupressure Impacts:  Clears Heat, activates the meridian.

SI3 point, Hou xi (Back Ravine)

Location: When a loose fist is made, the point is on the ulnar aspect of the hand, proximal to the 5th metacarpophalangeal joint, at the end of the transverse crease of the metacarpophalangeal joint, at the junction of the red and white skin.

Health Issues Supported: Pain and stiffness of the head and neck, red eyes, deafness, withdrawal, epilepsy.

Acupuncture and Acupressure Impacts: Benefits the neck and back, activates the meridian, expels exterior Wind, regulates the Du meridian, calms the Shen, treats malaria.

SI4 point, Wan gu (Wrist Bone)

Location: On the ulnar aspect of the palm, in the depression between the 5th metacarpal bone and hamate bone, at the junction of the red and white skin.

Health Issues Supported: Urinary blood, constipation, heel pain

Acupuncture and Acupressure Impacts: Activates and clears the meridian, resolves Damp-Heat.

SI5 point, Yang gu (Yang Valley)

Location: On the ulnar aspect of the wrist, in the depression between the styloid process of the ulna and the triquetral bone.

Health Issues Supported: Visual dizziness, tinnitus, deafness, wrist pain, neck swelling.

Acupuncture and Acupressure Impacts: Clears Heat, clears the meridian, reduces swelling.

SI6 point, Yang lao (Nursing the Aged)

Location: On the dorsal ulnar aspect of the forearm, in the depression on the radial side of the styloid process of the ulna.

Health Issues Supported: Dim vision, lumbar pain.

SI7 point, Zhi zheng (Branch to the Correct)

Location: On the dorsal ulnar aspect of the forearm, 5 cun above the transverse crease of the wrist, on the line connecting SI 5 and SI 8.

Health Issues Supported: Stiff neck, hypertonicity of the elbow

SI8 point, Xiao hai (Small Sea)

Location: On the medial aspect of the elbow, in the depression between the olecranon of the ulna and the medial epicondyle of the humerus.

SI9 point, Jian zhen (True Shoulder)

Location:   Posterior and inferior to the shoulder joint, when the arm is adducted, the point is 1 cun (finger inch) above the posterior end of the axillary fossa.

Health Issues Supported: Pain and aching of the shoulder and arm

SI10 point, Nao shu (Upper Arm Shu)

Location:   On the shoulder, directly above the posterior end of the axillary fossa, in the depression inferior to the scapular spine.

SI11 point, Tian zong (Celestial Gathering)

Location:   In the region of the scapula, in the depression in the center of the subscapular fossa, level with the 4th thoracic vertebra.

SI12 point, Bing feng (Grasping the Wind)

Location: In the region of the scapula, in the center of the suprascapular fossa, directly above SI 11, in the depression when the arm is lifted.

Location: In the region of the scapula, on the medial extremity of the suprascapular fossa, midway between SI 10 and the spinous process of T2.

SI14 point, Jian wai shu (Outer Shoulder Shu)

Location: On the back, 3 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of T1.

SI15 point, Jian zhong shu (Central Shoulder Shu)

Location: On the back, 2 cun lateral to the lower border of the spinous process of C7.

SI16 point, Tian chuang (Celestial Window)

Location: On the lateral aspect of the neck, in the posterior border of m. sternocleidomastoideus, posterior to LI 18, level with the Adam's apple.

SI17 point, Tian rong (Celestial Countenance)

Location: On the lateral aspect of the neck, posterior to the angle of the mandible, in the depression on the anterior border of m. sternocleidomastoideus.

SI18 point, Quan liao (Cheek Bone Hole)

Location: On the face, directly below the outer canthus of the eye, in the depression on the lower border of zygomatic bone.

SI19 point, Ting gong (Auditory Palace)

Location:   On the region of the face, anterior to the tragus and posterior to the condyloid process of the mandible, in the depression formed when the mouth is open.
